Well done to all the children for taking part in our annual Christmas Show on Wednesday 20th Dec. Parents were treated to a display of Zumba dancing, song singing, drama and a hand eye co ordination display. Many thanks to the parents for attending the show. At the end of the show the Parents Council held a raffle for each class. The winners were as follows: Junior Infants- Matt Jackson Senior Infants- Morgan Dunne 1st Class- Kasey Kingston 2nd Class- Dillon Fitzpatrick 3rd Class- Amelie Flynn 4th Class- Robyn Campbell 5th Class-Laoise Kirwan 6th Class-Kate Phelan Many thanks again to all and wishing everyone a Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year. On Wednesday, 6th December, the children from 1st, 2nd and 3rd classes travelled to Dublin's Ark Theatre in Templebar to enjoy a Christmas musical show by The Henry Sisters. This trip was subsidised by Music Generation. Lorna Henry visits our school, in association with Music Generation, to give singing lessons to our 1st-3rd class students and give ukulele tuition to our 4th to 6th class pupils. The children were familiar with many of the songs as they had been previously taught these by Lorna. A lovely afternoon of singing along in a magical atmosphere ensued. The children were accompanied by Ms Phelan, Ms Doran and Martha, our SNA.
We recently collected and donated 6 boxes of non perishable food items for those who may be without this Christmas. Mary Riordan, a neighbour of our school, will donate the boxes to Portlaoise Lions Club. Mary works voluntarily with this club which is an international organisation in organising fundraising activities such as the Christmas Food Appeal, Christmas Tree Sale and the International Peace Poster Competition which the pupils here enter annually. The parents and staff of Paddock N.S are extremely proud of the pupil's efforts for this worthy cause. |
