On the 15th March 2016, all schools were asked to commemorate the 1916 Rising by raising an Irish flag on the school grounds. Here at Paddock N.S, we joined the nation by raising our flag on this significant day. We were joined by parents, grandparents and relatives. Our local historian Mike rafter joined us in the morning time to teach the pupils about 1916 in Laois. The pupils sang traditional Irish songs, danced to traditional Irish tunes and read about the famous signatories of the proclamation. Finally, we raised the flag to our National Anthem. In conclusion, everyone enjoyed a slice of green, white and gold cake!
