We were delighted to have two teams competing in the Cumann na mBunscol finals on Friday last, 18th May. Both our boys hurling and girls camogie teams reached the Roinn 2 finals. Up first were the boys. They had a terrific game against Ballinakill, and to our delight, emerged victorious. Congratulations to the entire panel, and especially captain Joe Dowling. Next the girls took on Abbeyleix. Unfortunately they were beaten by a better and stronger team on the day. However, our girls showed great character in defeat and did both themselves and our school proud. A special congratulations to Robyn Quarney on her "fair play award". Thank you to Ms Dollard and Ms Fitzpatrick for all their time and effort throughout the year, to the parents for their support and the players themselves for their dedication. The future of hurling/ camogie looks bright in Paddock. Big congratulations to our girls' Football panel on reaching the Cumann na mBunscol ( Roinn 4 ) Football final on Wednesday 25th October. The girls were up against a much stronger Raheen team on the day. Commiserations on not winning but you did yourselves, your families and your school proud ! Well done to Katelyn Shore on winning the 'Fair Play' award also. Thank you to captain Robyn, Vice-captain Breann, Katelyn, Charley, Kate, Tara, Robyn, Sarah, Charlotte, Ella, Emma & Katie for giving us a great day out in O'Moore Pk. Thanks also to Ms Fitzpatrick and Ms Dollard for all their help and hard work with both panels The boys competed in their division and were captained by Mark Doyle, who was a great leader all through the league. Unfortunately, the boys were defeated by Killanure in the play-off for a semi-final position. Congratulations to our girls' camogie team on reaching the Cumann na mBunscol Roinn 2 final on Thursday last ( 25/5/2017) in Páirc Uí Mhordha against Errill.
The girls, captained by Laura Phelan, had qualified for the final after overcoming a tough Derrylamogue team in Rathleague the previous week. However on the day , Errill proved too strong for us and were deserving winners. Many thanks to the panel who put in a great effort at training and at the games throughout the league. Sincere thanks to Ms Dollard, Mr. Mullaney & Ms Fitzpatrick for all their tiime and commitment to the panel. Thanks girls for giving us a great day out in O'Moore Park. Well done also to our boys' team who participated in the Roinn 3 hurling league - however they did not qualify for the knock-out stages. Congratulations to our boys and girls football panels above who both competed in this year's Cumann na mBunscol football leagues.
The boys were captained by James Kidd and had a tough league campaign. The girls were captained by Aoibheann Dalton and reached a play-off for a semi-final place. However they were beaten by a stronger Durrow side. As always the games were very competitive but were enjoyed by all. Many thanks to Ms Dollard and Ms Fitzpatrick for managing the teams along with the assistance of Mr. Mullaney who continues to lend his support to these teams. We now look forward to the Cumann na mBunscol Table Quiz and hurling league early in 2017.
